My name is Natalie Rodriguez and I am the Special Events Director for CSUF PRSSA. I am in charge of planning, executing, and hosting all the events that PRSSA offers off campus, including mixers, agency tours, volunteer events, and special projects. Since the beginning of the year, I have hosted the annual Halloween Mixer and had the pleasure of securing two agency tours with Echo Media Group and 42 West, as well as an in-house Taco Bell Corporation tour. These were a blast to plan and host for all the members and I got so much positive feedback about the experience and knowledge that attendees gained. This semester, I am vigorously working on offering members a few different agency tour options, as well as planning the last big event of the semester, the Comm Week Mixer. I am also excited to share that I am working on a PR bootcamp project with Global Results, a top-of-the-line PR agency.
With all of these events under my belt and the future ones on the way, I have learned the beauty in having patience. I have had to realize that some things take time to perfect, and not everything will fall into place when you think they will. Working in special events has taught me to take things with a grain of salt and be opened to, but prepared for, unexpected issues. My organizational skills have also been tested in this position, having to balance my school, work, and internship schedules with my responsibilities as Special Events Director. I have also gained crucial networking skills I know I will need in the public relations industry, really pushing myself to see the opportunities in every relationship I create and maintain. While I have had to deal unpredictable issues, I have also had an amazing executive board to help me and be my backbone along my journey.
If my story, position requirements, and learned skill sets sound like something you would be interested in getting to know more about, please contact me with any questions. I hope to meet you in person very soon!
