Dear public relations professional,
As part of our mission to prepare CSUF students for a career in public relations and in honor of PRSA/PRSSA Relationship Month, CSUF PRSSA has created a professional mentorship program. We are simply asking PR professionals is about two hours of mentorship per month, whether that be through phone, e-mail, over coffee, or any other effective form of communication. The arrangement will last until May 2011. After that, it is up to the mentor and mentee as to whether they’d like to stay in contact.
By implementing this program, we are hoping to increase the number of PRSSA members who are able to secure internships and jobs after graduation, as well as help them feel more confident entering the workplace. We also feel that PRSSA members have knowledge to offer to professionals in avenues such as social media and new trends. Mentoring a student does not mean that you are required to directly help a student find a job or internship; simple acts of reviewing the student’s resume or offering interview advice is more appropriate.
Mentors will be placed with mentees based on career interest. Only certain mentees will qualify for a mentor. Juniors and seniors with the highest involvement with PRSSA will be placed first.
On behalf of PRSSA, we greatly appreciate your support for future PR professionals of CSUF!
